About the Photoblog
Why?
The photoblog is not every single photo I have ever taken, nor a true gallery of sorts. It is a collection of some of my most prized photographs that I am willing to share with you. None of these really have a purpose other than to exist and make someone's day brighter. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
A wee bit of info about this
I am not limited to one camera in this hobby. I either switch cameras because one breaks, another one is better for the situation, I'm doing something special, or a camera is stolen. Either way, I have some information of the cameras that I have used in this collection.
My flagship camera and workhorse and my first personal DSLR. I've been using film for many years, but this is a step into a new era.
Specs
Nikon DX format sensor
1.5x FOV crop
6.1 megapixel
1/500 sec flash sync
ISO 200-1600 (in full or 1/3 stops)
30 to 1/8000 sec shutter in steps of 1/3 or 1/2 EV
Lenses - Nikon F-Mount
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D
A flea-market find, I picked up this baby for about $30. It's a decent little range-finder for its age. Sorta like the Coolpix of 1960. I've yet to really do anything significant with it, but I might dedicate it to 35mm B&W if it is good enough for that.
Specs
6 - 1600 ASA
Rokkor 1:2.8/45mm 4 element (non-removeable, of course)
1/8 to 1/1000 sec leaf shutter - mechanically programmed with the aperture
Coupled selenium meter used to set aperture and shutter speed
Bright frame finder with superimposed coupled rangefinder
A relatively decent pocket cam that is really represented in the "More Than The Camera" collection. It's surprising what it can pull off.
Specs
1.6 megapixel (3 megapixel interpolated)
700mm - infinity, 50mm macro focus range
HD Video (720p at 60 fps and 30 fps) and VGA
I've seen between ISO 100-1600
Various Cameraphone
For the "More Than The Camera" collection, I did use cameras other than the Zi6. These less spetacular cameras were from my two phones - my previous one, the Blackjack II (2 megapixel), and my current one, the iPhone 3G (2 megapixel also).
Anything not listed as taken by the Uniomat was taken by this jewel. My father's camera when he was in the Navy, I took the camera and ran with it. It was my first SLR. I fell madly in love with this camera. It was stolen summer of 2008 by some untrustworthy worker for SERVPRO who broke into the warehouse and stole both my camcorder and this baby.
Specs
1/60 sec flash sync
ISO/ASA 12 - 3200
2 to 1/1000 sec shutter speed
FD Lense Mount
Similar to the AE-1, the AE-1 Program had an additional mode that automatically set the aperture and shutter speed. Because my aperture was stuck at the largest possible setting, I relied on this setting heavily. It provided me with very decent results. Unfortnately, I don't have specs on the lens - all I know is that it performed similar to my 18 - 70mm Nikkor.
