More Than The Camera
Since my precious 35mm SLR was taken from me last summer (2008), I’ve been aching to take good photos once again. I looked to what I had around me and found myself with a 2 megapixel single-focus camera attached to my phone. It was decent enough (camera phones have come quite a long way), so I decided to just start taking photos. The photo quality was decent enough that, with a little bit of Photoshop magic, these photos can come to life. I call the collection “More Than The Camera” because these photos aren’t based on the quality of the camera alone – they’re based on the subjects and techniques used to overcome the limitation of the camera.
Here is the result from that. It’s a mixture of photos from my phone (a Blackjack II) and a Kodak Zi6 I received last Christmas (2008).
Here are some specs on each camera.
Kodak Zi6
Photo size: 3 MP
Sensor type: 1 / 4.5–type 1.6 MP CMOS
Lens: 4.1 mm, f/2.8, fixed focus
Focus range: 70 cm – infinity / 5 cm
Blackjack II
Photo size: 2 MP
Sensor type: CMOS
Lens: fixed focus
Focus range: something – infinity
Ok… so, the photos.
