I said I would never use SketchUp. I never thought I would have a use for it. Then I had a use for it.

The models are from work – they are the Gym (the Family Interactive Center, the old science building (it’s gone through so many name changes, I don’t know what to call it), and the IMC.

EcoCAR: Blue Suede Cruise

Posted 9 May, 2009
Geekery, Photography, Random Thoughts

I have mentioned several times over the last two weeks that I went to the Blue Suede Cruise with EcoCAR to show off the ChallengeX car and to promote Mississppi State’s EcoCAR team. Needless to say, it was a fun day.

Jenna and I met at CAVS at about 6:50, grabbed breakfast, and left Starkville by 7:10. The drive up to Tupelo was not all that bad. I hadn’t checked the weather before we left, so rain was a surprise for me. But, I thought nothing of it. When we arrived in Tupelo, we had another concern. We went to the Automobile museum to pick up the car. We were pointed to the parking lot on the other side of the Arena. We assumed that the guys left the car in the back of the lot there – wherever that may be. After going through the entire lot, we discovered that the car was missing. After a few frantic (but unsuccessful) calls, the email that Lauren sent out was re-read and we headed back to the registration table. One lady remembered that we parked our car inside in the back of the museum and got the appropriate people. Boy was that a relief!

Goodbye Free Movie Mondays

Posted 7 May, 2009
Geekery

I got this sad email today.

Dear redbox customer,

The word is out that you can take home new release DVDs for only a $1 per night from the big red box. We know you know, because you’ve saved that dollar as part of redbox’ Free Movie Mondays promotion, which is ending after May 11.

However, since so many of us could use an extra buck these days, redbox is going to keep the free flicks coming once a month throughout the summer. Beginning June 1, redbox will send a free movie code to your phone on the first Monday of the month as a thank you for using redbox.

So start thinking about what you are going to do with those 3 extra dollars this summer – pool noodle… 6 piece McNuggets® and honey… 64 oz cherry icie… And we’ll keep thinking up new ways to delight you – Hollywood’s newest releases, online reservations, movie reviews, witty remarks… seriously, it’s endless.

redbox

I guess it is for the better. I know about redbox now. It worked. I actually like the service. Netflix might be a cheaper alternative later down the line when I start watching more movies, but $4 a month isn’t bad (especially since I only really do Movie Night on Monday).

Finally fixed an issue I’ve been having with the links. A simple color change makes links more visible now.
