Switched Back

Posted 23 February, 2009

I’ve switched back to Firefox. Chrome and Windows 7 do not play nice enough, the lack of bookmark syncing really bugs me, and the feature set on Chrome isn’t good enough to have me stick with it. I would love to see Chrome take off, but it’s back to Firefox for me.

Posted 18 February, 2009

High Voltage ArcToday was another field-trip day in ECE. We didn’t go too far – we walked a few feet to the rear of the building to the high-voltage research laboratory. You know, the biggest non-industrial university high-voltage lab in the country.

Soldering

Posted 17 February, 2009

SolderingSpending a few hours last night, I finished the Elenco Electronics, Inc. Solder Practice Kit Model SP-3B – a PCB with stuff on it so I can practice soldering. It does do something, though – put the correct chip in and power it up and you’ll get blinking lights. How exciting, eh?

It was a very good practice in soldering, though. It was really fun to do. It also made me realize that I need something to hold onto my work while I’m soldering it. Eventually I’ll buy something.

Here begins my career in Electrical Engineering. Woo!

I love it when Mississippi is in the news like this. It's more positive than, say, news saying that we're fat or racist. Or ignorant. - 4 days ago
